We are currently seeking a Line Inspector to help ensure the reliability and safety of our system for our members and the public. This individual will be responsible for inspecting electrical distribution system lines and substations, identifying hazards and failing equipment that could lead to safety issues or outages and maintaining up-to-date records for inspections and repairs. This position may also have the opportunity to integrate new technologies (apps, navigation tools, drones) to improve processes.

Key Responsibilities & Results:

Inspect distribution lines and substations
  • Inspect overhead lines and equipment
  • Inspect underground equipment
  • Conduct infrared inspections on the distribution system including substations and other sites
  • Identify hazards, code non-conformances and failed or failing equipment that could lead to safety issues or outages
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of inspections and repairs
  • Obtain system equipment counts for outage records


Assist movers and homeowners in coordinating house moves in a safe and efficient manner
  • Meet with potential house move members to discuss process
  • Check system infrastructure, equipment, and line clearances to identify potential issues
  • Request system operation orders if needed
  • Coordinate work with leadership to estimate associated move cost


Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years experience working with electrical distribution or transmission systems in a design, construction, and maintenance or inspection capacity.
  • Ability to learn and apply National Electrical Safety Code and construction standards
  • Current and valid driver's license
  • First aid training
  • CPR training


Preferred Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:

  • Experience in utility or related field
  • Experience in utility line construction and maintenance work
  • Experience with drones
  • Ability to read system maps and staking sheets
