The Purchasing Division is an agency within the Department of General Services. The Purchasing Division is responsible for acquiring goods and/or related services for agencies of the City and County of Denver utilizing various governmental procurement "best practices," including competitive bidding and direct "open market" purchases.

In this position you will be a part of a team of two General Services Purchasing Technicians assisting over 50+ City agencies and their assorted Divisions. You will be part of a larger team of procurement professionals sourcing numerous goods and services so that our client City agencies can fulfill their missions to serve the public in making Denver a world class city!

Specifically, you will be empowered to perform the following:
  • Issue numerous transactional purchase orders to various suppliers daily.
    • Review purchase requisitions for proper entry, accuracy, and assure required documentation is included; procurements to be in accordance with the Denver Revised Municipal Code, Fiscal Accountability Rules, and Division Policies and Procedures.
    • Research City agreements and transact in accordance with their terms and scope.
    • Contact suppliers to verify product descriptions, part numbers, pricing, availability, and lead time.
  • Provide customer service and communicate routinely with City agency personnel in relation to their procurements and educate them on General Service's Purchasing Division policies and procedures.
    • Resolve purchase order and related issues.
  • Communicate with suppliers and ensure that procurement requirements of the City and County of Denver are being met. Assist in the resolution of billing related issues.
  • Assist General Services Purchasing Division Procurement Analysts in relation to their one-time and annual solicitations and contract awards.
    • Surveying Agencies
    • Scope development
    • Conducting spend and related analytics
    • Processing extensions/ renewals
    • Assist with other related efforts

  • Update the Division's Power BI Internal Web Page Daily (existing knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel is required)
  • Contribute and collaborate on Division-wide efforts and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Have 1+ years of previous professional experience related to the following:
  • Large scale ERP systems
    • Workday® - preferred system
  • Supply chain/ procurement functions
  • Customer Service
  • Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience in using Microsoft: Word, Excel, Outlook or Equivalent Email platform.
  • We prefer a candidate with the following experience: Microsoft Office 365 and Teams
