Position Description

This position assists in the overall operation of the unit medication room and distributes client's medications from filled prescriptions.

Major/Essential Functions

• Administers medications and document as ordered. Adheres to facility policy and procedure of medication administration
• Performs support activities. Ensures drug room security, replaces facility medication, stocks and maintains the upkeep of the drug room and pharmaceutical equipment. Returns outdated medication to the pharmacy and keeps log books updated and generates print passes.
• Reports unusual occurrences (reactions, behaviors, refusals) to Registered Nurse

Required Qualifications

License/Certification: * Passage of State Medication Aide exam OR Current LVN license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Education: * A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of a required certified medication aide training course Experience: * None

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
