Our ideal colleague will have the capability to study ruminant nutritional physiology at a fundamental level such as metabolic adaptations in the transcriptome, and how these adaptations integrate with cellular and molecular events relative to the function of the whole animal. This position requires a solid foundation in ruminant nutrition as well as the ability to apply both omics technologies and molecular biology techniques to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms that ascribe phenotypes important to ruminant animal productivity (e.g., changes in physiological state, disease, climate stress, etc.). You will be expected to develop an extramurally funded research program, conduct both independent and collaborative research related to animal nutrition and to contribute to strong undergraduate and graduate programs in Animal Sciences. Teaching expectations include contributing to graduate courses within the program as well as training and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. The new faculty member is also expected to work closely with extension educators and partners in allied animal industries towards a common goal of fulfilling the land grant mission and contributing to the University of Kentucky’s Beef Center of Excellence.
