A Pastry Chef at Kowalski's is tasked with creating high-quality & visually appealing desserts that meet customer expectations and contribute to the overall success of the store's bakery department. Creativity, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Requirements:
  • Must be age 18+ due to equipment used
  • Bakery or Pastry experience required
  • 40 hour work week (Five 8 hour days)
  • Ideal availability 8AM-4PM
  • Must be available weekends and most holidays

Procedures and Job Expectations

• Must be able to work both independently and within a small team

• Must be a self-starter. A person who can come in and start daily tasks without any direction.

• Understanding of timeliness and prioritizing tasks in all aspects of the department.

• Have a sense of urgency. Ability to prioritize tasks to fill and complete daily orders.

• Understanding and being able to read/print off daily shipping sheets.

Assist with food preparation:

• Ensure proper handling, sanitization, freshness, and quality of all products.

• Ensure proper packaging and labeling of all products (proper quantity, quality, and price).

• Ensure proper stocking and rotation of products.

• Preparation/Decoration of specialty products, including pies, cakes, pots de crème, cream puffs, & eclairs.

Specialty Orders:

• Ability to produce and price special orders properly

• Possess basic computer skills to review orders and receive emails.

• Maintain the cleanliness of your department:

• Break down equipment.

• Wash and sanitize all counters and surfaces throughout your shift.

• Load garbage and cardboard and bring to compacters.

• Break down, wash, and sanitize all equipment, counters and surfaces.

• Clean cases, ovens, and fryers.

• Sweep and mop the floor.
