Position Summary
The Trauma Advanced Practice Provider (TAPP) coordinates, facilitates, manages, monitors, and provides care to the trauma patient from resuscitation to discharge. Functions as a clinical expert, consultant, educator, and leader within the Trauma Program and interdisciplinary team. Provides primary management, consultation, and education on trauma issues; including orthopedic care to individuals and groups internal and external to the hospital. Responsible for the provision of expert trauma and orthopedic care; from critical care/acute inpatient care to outpatient/follow-up ambulatory care. Coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical standards to enhance the quality of care for the pediatric trauma patient. Ensures that care delivered is family centered, customer focused, evidenced based, and effective. Participates in the Trauma Performance Improvement process as a leader in the maintenance of Pediatric Trauma Standards. Continually re-evaluates and identifies areas of improvement within the Trauma Service. Serves as liaison between Trauma Surgical Services and all other departments/services within Children's as well as point of contact for outlying facilities. The Trauma Service is in-house and provides patient care 24/7, 365 days a year. Our TAPP's work 12hr shifts (7-7)

Qualifications

License / Certification : Physician Assistant Certification by the NCCPA Certification Board and MN Medical Board license required. APRN: Current MN RN/APRN License certified through Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or America Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Maintain current ATLS, BLS, and PALS certification. ATLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Education : Physician Assistant : Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistants program. Masters degree required. Doctorate preferred. APRN : Graduate of an accredited Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program. Master's Degree required. Doctorate preferred. Acute Care certification required

Experience : At least 2 years pediatric advanced practice trauma clinical experience required. Experience working with acute trauma patients, trauma rounding experience, and pediatric orthopedic experience preferred
