Every day, more architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and owners specify Wells precast building components for their construction needs and with this continued success, we are looking to hire a motivated self-starting CAD Technician II to join our team. The right candidate must be a problem-solver, have strong communication skills, and also be willing and ready to learn.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: CAD Technician II is responsible for assisting lead drafter with the modeling and detailing of the project model and for preparation of erection/production drawings. May assume Lead Drafter responsibilities on small to mid-sized projects. This position supports the department in maintaining internal scheduling for project requirements and deadlines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


  • Model erection drawings from architectural/structural drawings and other trade documents (Steel, Mechanical, etc.).

  • Works closely with the internal D & E team to ensure model and drawings are complete and accurate containing all the information needed to properly assemble, cast, and erect the product.

  • Create/revise individual pour sheets for Production to produce each piece needed.

  • Communicate effectively with internal departments along with General Contractors, Architects, Engineers to facilitate a successful project outcome and avoid any project delays.

  • Prepare material requisition for production and erection hardware, including plate/assembly drawings.

  • Attends job meetings or site/plant visits if necessary.

  • Maintain Project Flow, following target dates as established by the D&E Team.

  • Utilizes best practice standards to determine efficiency in how the project should be produced and completed.

  • Maintaining Project data flow from the Revit Model to Concrete Vision.

  • Assist in mentoring other Cad Techs

  • Completes special projects as requested and performs other duties as assigned



KEY REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS, & QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 2-4 year drafting degree preferred.

  • Interpersonal communication skills to work in a team setting, as well as in 1-on-1 environment.

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.

  • General math skills and ability to read blueprints and plans.

  • Ability to visualize how materials are put together.

  • Capability to meet deadlines and follow aggressive project schedules.

  • 1 to 3 years of previous work experience in a related field.

  • Motivation and self-drive required to complete a task.

  • Knowledge of products the company produces.

  • Understanding and acceptance to changes that are implemented to become best in class.

  • Ability to use Revit along with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and other computer software programs.

  • Organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and able to work on more than one project at once.
