JOB TITLE: Cleaner REPORTS TO: Clean Foreman PAY RANGE: $16.00 - $22.00 Hourly DOE Essential Job Requirements: Ability to diagnose problems with vac equipment. Must be able to correctly blow down tanks; must be able to use 3 inch vacuum hose and hook up vacuum lines correctly and efficiently. Often required to walk on staging in dim, dusty conditions. Must be able to use 100-PSI air line in a safe manner so as to avoid injury to self and/or others. All of the above must be done while wearing a dust mask and/or respirator to avoid injury. May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor for the completion of the job in a safe and timely manner. Required Education: None Required Experience: One year related experience required. Required Skills: Must be able to work cooperatively with other employees and shipyard personnel. Must be able to take direction from supervisors or more experienced workers. Physical Requirements: Regularly required to walk; frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl at various heights and in confined spaces; occasionally required to sit; required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to feel, grip, or handle. Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Stamina required due to long hours. Must be able to wear dust mask and/or respirator. Must be able to see in dim, dusty, low light conditions. Physical agility required. May be required to wear a respirator to safely perform assigned tasks. Mental Requirements: Must be able to carry out simple instructions. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Working Conditions: Repetitive, physically demanding work. Lift heavy objects, carry heavy objects, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward positions and in confined spaces. Work in all weather conditions, sometimes at great heights. Interior work is hot and dusty. Exposed to loud noises, harmful materials or chemicals, fumes, odors, dangerous machinery. To avoid injury, safety clothing required along with safety devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing. Overtime or shift work involved most of the time.
