Position Description

Safety and Health Specialist are responsible for the developing, planning and implementing of the company’s safety and health programs to ensure a safe, healthy, risk-free and accident free work environment at Company offices and all job sites. In addition Safety and Health Specialist are responsible to maintain compliance with all Company safety rules and programs and all state and federal government regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and facilitate the implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Conduct and coordinate safety inspections for all active work sites to detect existing or potential risks or hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures, and track corrective actions.
  • Review job hazard analysis for each major/minor phase of our work to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide support in managing all OSHA and workers compensation claims reporting and record keeping in conjunction with the Safety Director.
  • Initiate, perform, and document job site inspections and audits with special emphasis on hazard recognition, unsafe behaviors, and correction of potential project, sub-contractor, third-party, asset & workers compensation losses.
  • Handle emergency responses and conduct incident investigations.
  • Comply with all Company rules, policies and standards.
  • Comply with all Company safety rules, policies and standards.
  • Come to work on time and as scheduled.

Position Requirements
  • Basic safety and health training
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of construction safety or safety related experience
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety is a plus
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook

  • Well-organized with strong analytical and reasoning abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and maintain a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to work and adapt in a fast-paced construction team environment (both, field and office). Ability to work for a diverse group from trade, office personnel, managers, contractor, and subcontractors.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality in performance of all duties.
