Position Summary

Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, test result reporting and specimen collection. The MLS provides service in one or more sections of the laboratory with a high level of accuracy, precision and timeliness and ensures compliance with departmental and regulatory agency standards. Service is provided to patients of all age groups. Provides oversight and work direction to MLTs, MLSs and phlebotomists in the absence of management. Supports section technical specialist with various assignments. Non-technical duties include taking supply inventories, stocking supplies, cleaning and maintaining work area, equipment and instrumentation.

Monday-Friday: Various start times (0600-1430, 0900-1730, and 0930-1800)

Saturday-Sunday: 0600-1430

Every third weekend

Both Mpls and St. Paul campuses
*Certified as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) board of registry or equivalent professional organization per CLIA standards. Certification must be completed by the first year of employment and kept current according to ASCP standards.

License/Certification/Registration required? Yes

Education:
*Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent education and experience to qualify under CLIA guidelines.

Experience:
*Minimum 3 years of clinical laboratory experience required.

*Requires a baccalaureate or equivalent

The posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple jobs within a salary grade. We carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, and organizational needs.
