BRGs Clinical Economics (CE) practice has been an integral part of the firms Healthcare advisory practice. The CE practice offers extensive healthcare expertise with a focus on payment reform models, clinical quality and value-based policy and performance measurements, strategic and regulatory planning, clinical program financial modeling, regulatory compliance, clinical documentation integrity and provider education.
BRG is seeking a Clinical Documentation Improvement and Physician Education candidate for the Consultant level. This mid-level position will reside in the Clinical Economics practice. This position requires a highly motivated problem solver with solid oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and relevant industry experience. The work will involve assisting in both execution and oversight of engagement work streams that may be either qualitative or quantitative in nature, and responsibilities include team collaboration of development and presentation of client deliverables, including, client work, as well as industry research.This position will be mostly remote, with project-dependent travel.
Job Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of clinical documentation requirements and coding guidelines applicable to inpatient care and outpatient care settings.
  • Be a part of the team that provides Clinical documentation integrity training for CDS and coding staff as well as deliver provider education as it relates to documentation improvement and coding.
  • Assist with planning and management of client engagements.
  • Provide input for complete and accurate client deliverables and make valuable contributions as a team member to expert reports.
  • Contribute with client relationships and communicate results and work product as appropriate.
  • Prioritize assignments and responsibilities to meet team goals and deadlines.
  • Participate in CDI group practice meetings, contribute to business development initiatives and contribute to office functions such as staff recruiting.
  • Provide Interim CDS support per client need.
  • Travel is project dependent.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with one or more of the following credentials: RN, RN/BSN; CCDS with CCS highly preferred; RHIA, RHIT; CDIP, CPC, CRC-preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive CDI and/or Coding experience.
  • Possesses knowledge of DRG coding guidelines.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with colleagues, providers, and hospital staff in a collaborative manner.
  • Possess thorough understanding of the legal and compliance issues as they pertain to clinical documentation and coding.
  • Proficient computer skills with Electronic Record systems; EPIC, Cerner, 3M 360.
  • Proficiency in understanding and delivering education in All Patient Refined Diagnosis Related Group (APR DRGs).
  • Delivery of CDI Education to clients regarding appropriate diagnoses for capturing accurate Severity of illness, Hierarchical Condition Category (HCCs) and Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MS DRGs) - Reviews and analyzes health records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for distinct patient encounters.
Candidate must be able to submit verification of their legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.
Salary Range: $110,000 $130,000 per year.
