Overview

RES is accepting applications for Scientist I (ecology/regulatory) for our Glen Burnie, MD office.

The mission: Support our clients and internal delivery teams with knowledgeable high-quality project delivery across a variety of restoration projects and activities. Occasionally, some of our projects require regional travel within the Mid-Atlantic (Virginia, Delaware), but this position will be based in Maryland.



Responsibilities

This position is intended to require a mix of both field and office work. You will be working on project planning tasks, field tasks, and site assessment work including but not limited to

  • Wetland delineations/ stream assessments
  • Forest Stand Delineation / Tree Surveys
  • Mitigation monitoring
  • Feasibility assessments of potential restoration projects
  • Endangered species and habitat surveys
  • Benthic macroinvertebrate and fish surveys
  • Vegetation assessments / Invasive Species Identification and control
  • Report Writing
  • Permit Application support (JPA, State, County, Local)

You may be expected in your field work to walk long distances, bending, lifting/carrying heavy objects (30+ lbs), and performing other physical activities.

Qualifications

We would love to talk to you if you have any of the following:

  • BA/BS in an environmental science field such as, but not limited to, ecology, wetland science, aquatic biology, botany, wildlife biology, fisheries, soils, hydrology, etc.
  • Experience performing wetland delineations/ stream assessments
  • Experience with benthic macroinvertebrate surveys
  • Experience in geomorphology data collection and processing.
  • Experience working with federal and state resource and regulatory agency personnel and various permitting processes
  • Experience with Trimble GPS units, ArcGIS, and/or other ESRI data collection software.
  • Experience conducting cross sectional assessments and long-pro field work.
  • NRI/FSD experience

What will make you stand out?

  • Applicable degree in an environmental science field
  • Certifications such as CERP, PWS, PWD, or permits for threatened/endangered species collection.
  • Strong working knowledge of plant identification and vegetation in the Mid-Atlantic
