Responsible for the maintenance of Quality Standards to ensure the building of the highest quality product most efficiently, meeting company performance standards, customer specifications, and delivery deadlines, in accordance with company policies and procedures

Quality Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports Manufacturing and Engineering in the identification, control, and documentation of identified in-process or final characteristics to ensure a product that meets customer requirements.
  • Directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products.
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Devises sampling procedures and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality data.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of product; devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Provides training and mentoring to employees regarding the quality system and compliance with quality management standards.
  • May specialize in areas of quality control engineering, such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, research and development, and administrative application.
  • Ensures the integrity of inspection, measuring, and test equipment, including proper use, care, and handling and writing calibration procedures.
  • Assist with the responses to customer complaints by supporting Manufacturing and Engineering during the investigations.
  • Facilitates internal, external, and supplier corrective actions to ensure timely responses that will eliminate the causes of the rejection.
  • Interacts with other departments to provide assistance and guidance on quality issues; participates in engineering, production, quality, and management meetings when needed.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of and conformity to Fathom Quality Management System requirements.
  • Conduct Internal Audits of certified QMS processes, and in process audits.
  • Follows and complies with safety rules, regulations, and work instructions.
  • Accurately completes all required documentation.
  • Meets attendance policy requirements.
  • Contributes to team effort by assisting in areas as needed.

Quality Engineer Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Quality Engineering or other manufacturing or technical field, as well as a minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification desired.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and technical skills in process quality engineering, certification in Quality Engineering and computer literacy in Microsoft Windows and Office Applications is essential.
  • Must have 2 years’ experience working in a QMS certified to an ISO standard, ISO 9001 / AS 9100 / IATF 16949 / ISO 13485.
  • Knowledge and application of problem-solving tools, and statistical controls of manufacturing processes required.
  • Working knowledge and application of measuring tools/equipment (Eg. Caliper, micrometer) required.
  • Able to read to understand and train print reading and GD&T required.
  • Aerospace experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of CMM / PCMM operations/or knowledge is a plus.
  • Understanding of Micro Vu / Optical Comparator operations is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Quality Engineer Hours: Monday - Friday 1st shift
