As a Fleet Manager at McCarthy, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of our fleet of vehicles. You will be responsible for overseeing our fleet's maintenance, utilization, safety, and regulatory compliance, contributing directly to the success of our projects. The Fleet Manager will collaborate closely with our Regional Yards to optimize fleet operations and support the company's objectives.
Responsibilities:
Fleet Operations Management:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive fleet management strategies to optimize the utilization of vehicles and equipment while meeting regional and project needs.
  • Assist in the coordination, deployment and scheduling of vehicles and equipment for the regions and their jobsites.
  • Monitor fleet performance metrics, such as utilization rates, downtime, and fuel efficiency, along with developing tools to demonstrate areas of improvement.
  • Collaborate with McCarthy Regions on vehicle assignments and the monitoring of drivers across the fleet.
Maintenance and Repair:
  • Establish and maintain a fleet maintenance support tool for McCarthy's regions, confirming timely service/repairs along with accurate documentation, ensuring minimal downtime, while maximizing asset lifespan.
  • Serve as a resource for McCarthy's regions in the unfortunate case of an accident. Providing options for vehicle repair as well as the use of rental vehicles.
Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations related to vehicle and equipment operation, safety, and emissions.
  • Ensure all fleet assets meet regulatory standards and maintain up-to-date documentation, licenses, and certifications, up to and including vehicle registration as well as driver motor vehicle records (MVR).
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies as needed and address compliance issues promptly.
  • Address over the road, toll, and parking violations on a regional basis. Providing our regional teams with the tools necessary to track such events and resolve them on a regional basis.
Safety and Training:
  • Implement and educate our region's and their drivers as to McCarthy's over the road safety rules and best practices.
  • Collaborate with McCarthy's Learning and Development, Safety and Risk groups in the development and implementation of training programs for drivers and operators on safe vehicle and equipment operation, defensive driving, and emergency procedures.
Vendor and Supplier Relations:
  • Coordinate engagement with suppliers, vendors, and equipment dealers to ensure timely procurement of parts, supplies, and new vehicles or equipment as needed.
  • Participate in the negotiation of terms, pricing, and contracts to secure the best value for the company.
  • Review vendor invoicing for accuracy, prior to approval and payment
Qualifications:
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Experience with logistics, analytics, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven 5+ years of experience in fleet management, preferably within the construction or infrastructure industry.
  • Strong understanding of fleet operations, maintenance best practices, and regulatory compliance.
