CSA is seeking an experienced, recognized, and respected growth and business development leader with expertise in the Department of Defense (DoD) as well as various relevant Federal Civilian agencies for the position of Chief Growth Officer (CGO). The CGO will have the mandate to work as part of the executive leadership team to develop and implement the overall sales strategy and capture of new customers while also focusing on growth within the current programs for the company. The CGO will be charged with the directive to materially impact the business results while being a hands-on executive that can drive sales and growth across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly or indirectly maintain responsibility and guidance over the following functions:
  • As a leader and an individual contributor, direct and coordinate sales, growth, and business development activities toward achieving CSA objectives.
  • Establish a compelling and executable sales plan that uses the Account Plan model that is backed by a pipeline of Prime Full & Open opportunities that grows CSA's assets and expands the footprint based on the strategic pillars.
  • Oversee the organization's business development operating model, business development resources, corporate proposal center and capture process for large opportunities to further increase total pipeline value and overall proposal win rate.
  • Assisting in the development of requirements and requests for proposals.
  • Monitor, analyze and report on competitive activity and strategies in the market and recommend/implement strategies to counter.
  • Prepare business capture plans and customer briefings, including outlines of contract and pricing strategies, based on customer knowledge.
  • Defining goals and implementing metrics for sales, business development and strategic growth programs.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with customer executives and senior level technical staff.
  • Ensure CSA remains a customer first organization that prides itself on the highest standards.
  • Provide input to the CEO and other executive team members on new product or service features to be developed to meet current and future customer needs.
  • Evaluate the capabilities of the current sales and business development team and develop the team through training and external hires.
  • Assist the CEO in driving an operational culture that is aligned to CSA values. Establish and nurture a positive, can-do, collaborative professional culture and environment for the business unit and greater company.

Strategy, Planning and Management:
  • Communicate, engage, and interact with Board of Directors, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Assess and evaluate growth performance of the organization regarding long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization.
  • Create and establish yearly sales objectives that align with the company's plan for growth and expansion.
  • Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by senior leadership team.

Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A)/Growth Equity:
  • Experience in the M&A process that includes identifying target companies, business units or vehicles that compliment CSA's strategic direction. Involvement in due diligence activities, transition planning and integration of processes, people, and contracts centric to the growth and functional synergies necessary as a result of the M&A.
  • Experience with growth equity/private equity and the investment cycle and serve as a strategic business partner to investors, the CEO and the board in driving value creation and executing the exit strategy.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead, manage and direct sales and business development programs with directly related experience in the government IT contracting space.
  • Experience in organizational development, business process reengineering, and change management preferred, as it applies to building a best in class sales and business development team.
  • Strong track record of initiating and leading a robust planning process to define a clear vision and strategy with a proven ability to drive consistent growth.
  • Proven ability to shape and win large scale programs.
  • Ability to elevate the sales and business development process to a new level within the organization by instilling discipline and rigor, developing repeatable processes, scalable platforms and industry best practices.
  • Data/metric-driven with a focus on pipeline metrics, bid submission rates, win rates and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Industry gravitas and strong relationship builder.
  • Superlative executive presence and strong communication skills necessary to establish and maintain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to formulate a clear and compelling vision for CSA within the broader defense/security and relevant Federal Civilian agency communities.
  • Ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability to enhance margins and work in partnership with the customer to address their needs.
  • Strong appreciation of CSA's vision along with a demonstrated understanding of the specialized needs of CSA's customers and stakeholders.
  • Broad based technical and business knowledge. Strong foundation/understanding of the government IT contracting world.
  • Specific knowledge of; cyber security, Enterprise IT, digital transformation, data & predictive analytics, software & systems engineering, and full lifecycle support of fielded technologies onto critical missions & platforms. Systems engineering background a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field; Master's Degree highly desirable
  • 20+ years of well-rounded BD experience in positions of increasing responsibility with a focus on winning new business while leading a diverse team of self-starting and motivated individuals
  • Experience within a set of diverse markets; direct Federal Civilian & Defense experience; GSA GWACs
  • 15+ years leading a growth department within a DoD contractor.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
