SUMMARY:

Learns to operate manual machine tools, including but not limited to drill presses, saws, pedestal grinders & bench drilling with assistance from the supervisor and co-workers. Performs manual tasks such as deburring and parts cleaning.

Upon reaching the required skill level and experience, may be asked monitor/operate CNC lathes and CNC mills with the assistance of the supervisor and co-workers.

Must possess the ability to read and interpret blue prints, perform simple shop math calculations, understand geometric dimensions and tolerances and correctly use analog and digital measuring instruments. Must have working knowledge of micrometers, calipers as well as threads and plug gages.



Responsibilities

Work under the direction of the shop supervisor and/or lead-person to perform daily tasks that may include but not limited to:

Operating saw, band saw, tumbler or simple lathe operations.

Identifying and stocking raw material

Checking all CNC machines to ensure proper raw material is loaded in bar feeders based on needs specified on individual setup sheets.

Check and fill as necessary all CNC machines to ensure coolant tanks are full and at correct viscosity levels using a refractometer.

Performing maintenance on reservoirs, coolant tanks and lubricants as needed.

Bench drilling small diameter holes in piston heads, orifice plates, etc. and inspecting work to ensure compliant product.

Deburring parts on a pedestal wheel

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 1 year machining experience or appropriate educational background.

Ability to read blueprints.

Familiar with decimal conversions.
