Position Overview:

The Audiovisual (AV) Field Engineer - III plays a crucial role in providing technical commissioning support for AV/IT systems in the field. This position demands advanced, detailed technical knowledge of audiovisual systems, including networking, audio and video equipment, and associated software. Responsibilities include intermediate-level control system program editing with remote assistance. Success in this role requires attention to detail, punctuality, excellent communication skills, and the technical expertise to commission audiovisual system installations.


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED;
    • Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • AVIXA CTS certification required.
  • CompTIA Network+ certification must be attained within two years of starting this position.
  • 6+ years of experience in technical AV/IT or field engineering support.
  • Proficiency with both Windows and Apple software.
  • Ability to set up and color balance video displays.
  • Advanced proficiency in loading, testing, and editing control code and graphical user interface files from manufacturers like AMX, Crestron, Extron, QSC, and others.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting control systems and digital communication protocols (IP, RS232, RS485, USB).
  • Advanced skills in setting up and adjusting audio and video equipment, including conferencing systems.
  • Proficiency with software, hand tools, and test equipment related to the audiovisual and IT trades.
  • Experience with digital signal processors such as Biamp, BSS, Crestron, Extron, and QSC.
  • Advanced proficiency in configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide field engineering support and expertise to project teams, including engineering, equipment configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare control system submittals.
  • Load and test control code and graphical user interface files with remote assistance.
  • Conduct systems testing, commissioning, and punch list preparation.
  • Assist with tasks required for job completion during the commissioning phase, ensuring system quality and performance meet job requirements for Final Acceptance approval.
  • Ensure each system is physically complete per contract documents.
  • Identify and report change order opportunities to Project Leads.
  • Accurately mark up field documentation and maintain and archive all job-related configuration files, code, graphic touch panel layouts, and programs promptly.
  • Provide system training to owners or clients as needed.
  • Offer technical guidance to other AV Field Engineers and assist with skill development.
  • Contribute to performance reviews, interview processes, and developmental and training plans.
  • Act as a primary trainer and mentor for new AV Field Engineer hires and trainees as assigned by management.
